Project
Development of a blood thiamine assay to evaluate Thiamine Deficiency Complex in Great Lakes lake trout Salvelinus namaycush
Thiamine Deficiency Complex has been considered an important impediment to lake trout restoration in the Great Lakes Basin. Monitoring programs, however, are largely limited to egg samples, restricting sampling effort to females captured during fall or lethal collection of ovaries. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop a method to analyze thiamine concentrations in blood increasing flexibility for monitoring programs and future research.
